Week 8 Progress

Image
I am not pleased with how my semester started out in this class but I am going to work hard through the second half of the semester to complete the class with at least a C. I know that I am going to have to do a lot of extra credit but hopefully i will be able to get a lot of it done during spring break.       I also know that many times this semester I have gotten busy but I am going to be working on things a lot earlier and making sure I meet deadlines as that is a part of my degree. I know that I will be successful in making a C in this class because I am going to work to keep all my grades a C or higher.       One of my pitfalls is not working on things earlier and procrastinating. I will no longer procrastinate as this causes me more problems when completing work on time. Overall i am pleased with how my website and how my blog is coming along. I hope that in the coming weeks I will do a lot better in this class with getting thin...

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
As I have begun looking back at my work over the semester, I have realized that there is always room for improvement. I feel like sometimes the reading notes are the most extended parts of the week and as much as I enjoy the reading I also have felt like the post lengths are a little long at times.           Coming into this class, I knew I would enjoy the reading. I have found that I enjoy writing the stories more than reading them. I would have to say that I enjoyed the readings in the biblical unit, but I also have enjoyed the Japanese readings. I cannot possibly pick a favorite reading.       I have found that I am incredibly pleased with the stories that I have written. My reading notes give me the bare minimum that I need to write an original story that is my own work with the influence of the story I read. It is essential for me to be able to write my own work as a Professional Writing major.     ...

Week 7 Story: Queer Worlds

This story is now on my portfolio       Once upon a time, there were two drag queens who were named Izanagi and Izanami. These queens longed to create a world that they could live in. They decided that they would build a staircase that would allow them to travel to the worlds from the drag queen spirit realm. Now the queens were so bored as they had no one to entertain, so they created a substance for them to produce great things from. This substance was a glittery rainbow-colored foam that they would use to create a wide array of queer things. The two queens came down the large glitter staircase that they had made and began their creation of the worlds. “Hunty this world is such a drag! Why don’t we create another queen?” one of the queens said. “Don’t you start telling me what to do you, dirty queen! We will create them, but we have to create a place for them to become creative in their drag.” The other replied.  So t...

A Queer Reading of Izanami and Izanagi

Image
(photo found at pixabay ) As I read through Izanagi and Izanami I was able to pull out many ideas for my story. The idea that the gods and goddesses can make things out of the foam is a wonderful and magical way to describe creation.  The gender roles in this story could be switched within the new story as women in this time period of writing were not allowed to speak before a man. I could also use the idea of the floating bridge within this work to be able to provide a staircase.  I feel like a little bit of Drag Queen comedy so that is another possibility for this story.  Here is a link to the story Izanami and Izanagi

Week 3 Story: The Creation of Adam in Eden

Image
(Story is now at my portfolio ) (Picture of Wiccan Altar ) Before time on earth began the goddess and the god were there. Now the god and the goddess were intertwined within the same cycle, and in turn, the world was made by the combined power of the god and goddess. The god ruled the forests of the world while the goddess ruled the fields and the moon. There was no other creature in sight, and the deities felt lonely. The goddess spoke to the god to whom she had given birth who had grown into adulthood and said to him “Why should we not create magical creatures of our own to be able to be one with nature and to be able to harness the power of our spirits to take care of the Earth in which I am?” Thereby the god replied to the goddess who gave birth to him “I do not see why we cannot do what you might suggest. Perhaps it would be nice to be able to leave the earth with this caretaker while we continue our reign from the heavens.” The goddess replied in earnest “Oh how I long to ...

Reading A: Lilith Notes for week 3

Image
(Personal Photo)      As I was reading through the story of Lilith I noticed that I could pull out some things for a possible project later in the semester but here are some notes that I plan to possibly use for the story later this week.       The first thing is how Lilith is formed the story states that she was formed of the ground just like Adam this could set up the idea of the rib that helped make Eve could have came from Lilith and then the idea that a male helper for Adam would have came from his rib.       The second thing I noticed was how in the story Adam was feeling deserted and felt lonely which caused him to ask for a helper. The helper in the story could have been another male instead of Eve.       The third thing was how Lilith ran away from Adam. In turn she could have realized that she was lesbian and that she needed a female partner in life.         Bibli...
