Week 3 Story: The Creation of Adam in Eden

Image
(Story is now at my portfolio ) (Picture of Wiccan Altar ) Before time on earth began the goddess and the god were there. Now the god and the goddess were intertwined within the same cycle, and in turn, the world was made by the combined power of the god and goddess. The god ruled the forests of the world while the goddess ruled the fields and the moon. There was no other creature in sight, and the deities felt lonely. The goddess spoke to the god to whom she had given birth who had grown into adulthood and said to him “Why should we not create magical creatures of our own to be able to be one with nature and to be able to harness the power of our spirits to take care of the Earth in which I am?” Thereby the god replied to the goddess who gave birth to him “I do not see why we cannot do what you might suggest. Perhaps it would be nice to be able to leave the earth with this caretaker while we continue our reign from the heavens.” The goddess replied in earnest “Oh how I long to

Reading A: Lilith Notes for week 3

Image
(Personal Photo)      As I was reading through the story of Lilith I noticed that I could pull out some things for a possible project later in the semester but here are some notes that I plan to possibly use for the story later this week.       The first thing is how Lilith is formed the story states that she was formed of the ground just like Adam this could set up the idea of the rib that helped make Eve could have came from Lilith and then the idea that a male helper for Adam would have came from his rib.       The second thing I noticed was how in the story Adam was feeling deserted and felt lonely which caused him to ask for a helper. The helper in the story could have been another male instead of Eve.       The third thing was how Lilith ran away from Adam. In turn she could have realized that she was lesbian and that she needed a female partner in life.         Bibliography: Lilith: Myth-folklore untextbook Lilith story

My Feedback Thoughts

Image
I think that no one understands how important feedback is until you take Media Writing and Storytelling in Gaylord College. In that class one mistake can cause a student to get a F on an assignment quicker than you can type the mistake. I feel as though other classes that I will and am taking as a professional writing major will indeed have a growth mindset train of thought. However, when dealing with news writing and journalism the idea of accuracy is such a big thing that manytimes one mistake can cause the student to quickly fail one of the main entry courses into the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications.      One of the articles that I enjoyed reading was the article titled Make Good Art . I enjoyed this because mistakes are one of the many ways in which students learn how to do the craft of writing. Students cannot become good at writing without making mistakes and learning how to look and fix those mistakes. So many times as a writer I think that I should have r

Topic Brainstorms for my Storybook

Image
There are a few topics that I would be interested in and would like to expand on. The first topic is what would happen if Adam and Eve were not heterosexual but instead were queer. I would be looking at Lilith as a possible romantic love interest for Eve. I also would gain the opportunity to create a new character for Adam that he loves. My thoughts on this new character would call into question what would happen if Adam had a male lover that was his compatible partner in life and likewise for Eve. I would derive parts of my story from the Bible by looking into Genesis for the roots of the story then look into the story of Lilith for the other side of the story. (Picture of  Holy Bible ) The second topic that would be possible to place in my storybook would be a story about the end of the world and the rapture. This story would be influenced heavily by the book of Revelation in the Bible. The characters that I could use could be entirely fictional and could possibly be an LGBTQ+

Time Strategies

Image
(Personal Photo taken of a clock in Walmart)        This week has been a crazy week for me and I have found that the experience of working on this class for about an hour a day seems to work pretty well for me. I also find that the aspect of time management has never been my strongsuit however I have found that the harder I work at it the better I become at being able to manage better and this class will work out well with my other classes this semester. sadly I did not have much time to read the articles posted for this assignment but will be reading them after this post. I hope that the first week went well for everyone and that everyone will pass. thanks. Sincerely, Shaun Beck

The Technology to Get the Job Done.

Image
(Personal Photo taken at my work for this post)      After looking at the many tools for class this week I am very grateful to have amazing resources to be able to use. I have recently found that the tools that are handy for this class will give me a wonderful oportunity to learn them as I go along. I look forward to the freebookapalooza tool for the extra credit. This tool will help me to be able to complete many readings and will aid me in the overall length of the course the other course tools are still quite new and these will take me some time to get to know them. I know these last few posts are quite short but I am also attempting to get used to the tools of the class as much as possible. Sincerely, Shaun Beck

Assignments for the class

Image
(Personal Photo taken of a journal that my boyfriend gave to me) I am looking forward to the assignments for this class because it will allow me to write more every day. I also look forward to seeing where these assignments will lead me as I continue to work on my normal website posting content for my readers to see. I look forward to possibly completing some of the class diary extra credits the most as I enjoy being able to write my feelings down on paper. I have done a lot of assignments like these although I have never had to write something everyday. This is somewhat new to me. I hope that I can be successful in this class. Sincerely, Shaun Beck

Growth Mindset and the Challenge ahead

Image
(Picture from Laura Gibbs who obtained it from  cheezburger ) I view my life as one big challenge after the next in my schoolwork it is difficult to manage time all the while still working on things outside of my classes. One example of the outside things that comes to mind is my novel, which seems to be just outside of my reach due to all the time management that I am having to do this semester. As a writer I constantly find myself face to face with a wide array of challenges that inspire me to do better and to work harder. I also find myself at a loss when it comes to having time for my own self care regimens. However, work must always be done even when It seems challenging. I think many people can learn a lot by challenging themselves and this is no exception to the Christian Faith as well. I have learned that being a Christian sometimes is a challenge due to my sexuality and due to the constant amounts of study that one must do in order to know the diety that one's religi

Shaun Beck Future New York Times Bestseller Introduction

Image
Personal Photo            Welcome to my blog for this Mythology class. My name is Shaun Beck. I am currently pursuing a degree in Professional Writing through Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications. My current plan is to receive my Bachelor’s degree in the field of Professional Writing. I am an LGBTQ Christian male who is an advocate for LGBT people, and I am also working to change the way that people view homosexuality within the church and outside of the church. Too often there is a stigma that surrounds gay men. This stigma is one of a sexual nature and portrays gay men and women as purely sexual beings that have no love. My goal as an author is to write romance novels that represent LGBT relationships in a positive light. This positive light is to portray them in a way that true love becomes evident within the relationships in my novels. I currently have a personal website that caters to my work as an author which I will link below.  Shaun Beck

Favorite Storybooks and a glimpse into my possible project Idea.

Image
As I have looked through the storybooks, I have indeed found three that were interesting.             Personal Photo of my Bible  One of the storybooks I was interested in was “Badass Bible Women.” This particular storybook was entertaining due to the women that were picked from the bible and coming from a Christian perspective it was quite lovely to be able to look at these characters from a fresh feminist perspective as most people don’t even stop to think about what these characters are like outside of the male-centric viewpoint. This storybook inspires me to look deeper into the stories that are contained within the bible for inspiration for my own project.   Baddass Biblical Women                       The second Storybook I found interesting was titled “Welcome to Hell” This was interesting due to the conversations I have had with one of my best friends from high school about the very topic that hell is here on earth. Even though my faith believes that Hell is a

the Mysterious Wonders of Estes Park Colorado My Favorite Place

Image
This was Taken at the end of a hiking trail I went on. Personal Photo  (also used on my personal website shaunbeck.com )    Colorado is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I stayed in Estes Park campground in 2017. Little did I know that this would be one of my favorite places in the world.  The amount of beauty that is found in Estes Park is breathtaking. One of the first things that you notice as you begin to ascend the mountains in this beautiful place is the color of the sky.  The Sky filling up with rain as I was beginning to see the mountains  Personal Photo       The sky is a deep bright blue, and you can see the rain clouds build up behind the mountains as you enter into the campground that I stayed in during the fall semester in 2017. The rock formations on the sides of the hills are of exquisite quality and display what I believe to be the creation at its finest.             Estes Park Colorado Personal Photo   The hiking trails wer
